Thanks for the suggestions. I have not tried them yet. If I had diesel fuel in the crank case, would the oil seem milky? Would I smell it?

The reason I ask is, before I noticed the milky oil I had a hard time starting the tractor. I attributed this to the cold. I had to turn the engine over quite a bit before it would stay running. That is when the excessive smoking started. Could I have driven fuel down into the crank case?

I have my Kubota L2850 in the dealer's shop right now for an engine oil leak. He said its coming from the front seal and the parts would cost $30 and the Labor $800. Ouch! He also said it wasn't critical to fix it if I was vigilant about checking the oil every day. I decided to wait to fix it. My question is are there any products I can add to the oil to seal up the leak from the inside or is this just asking for trouble. $830 bucks is a little steep for an oil leak but I don't want to destroy the tractor either. Any suggestions?

Today I bought a mid '80s L2850 D 4 wheel drive tractor with a BF500 loader. It shows 560 hours but I don't trust that. It is in good shape but looks well used. I drove the tractor for about an hour and found nothing wrong except an oil leak I couldn't pin down. It also came with a NH 60" sickle bar mower, a 72" Landpride backblade, a landpride fertilizer spreader, a 60" rotary cutter, and a Kuhn 48" rototiller that can't have more than 2 hours on it. The other implements are well used but all in working order. I paid $10,500 cash. I can use all of the implements on my small farm. What do you think?

I have a bx23 and a property the exact size of yours. I'm constantly amazed at what the bx23 will do. However, I'm always wishing I had a little more. If I were you I'd go with the B or L series for the weight only. The horse power of the BX23 is fine but I'm always spinning my wheels(turf tires don't help). Bx is a sweet tractor but lacks a little punch. Good luck and let us know what you decide on.

What would I expect to pay for a new 25 or so HP with heavy duty loader. I'd like HST. I haven't gone to see these tractors yet but they look really nice online. I'd liked to be armed with a little info when I go in. Thanks

This is my first post to the board although I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks. I finally went to my local JD dealership (J. R. Rosencrantz, Derry, NH) and was quoted $21900 for a new last year's 4310 eHydro with 430 loader and loaded r4 tires. This is the one with the Yanmar engine. Any feelings for this price? It's a lot of money but I loved the tractor. What is a comparable Kubota to look at? Also, is there a problem with the Yanmar engine that made them switch to Deere? Any help would be appreciated as I don't think that tractor will be around long. Thanks!
