Thanks Murf, pretty impressive equipment, that combo tree shear/grinder is something. I am going to be building a 100 yd chip and putt in the wooded area behind my house. I need to thin the out of bound areas and don't want to rip it all up with a hoe or dozer. I just want to grind the stumps down a little.

Reberta, I happened to notice your posting on your problem and figured why not get your head spinning even more. No, just kidding, landscaping has been my life so let's see if I can help a bit.
Tom and Murf have you started in the right direction and I have to agree with them for safety, and because of your equipment size you are out gunned, don't worry though.
Murf was right you should grass the slope. The area is simply to narrow and steep to be elaborate when simple works. Being that narrow in width you have to enjoy it by looking down on it or up at it.
Not seeing the project makes it a little hard to know what ground prep or proper equipment is needed. It isn't that big of area so even with the slope it will not require a lot of equipment time. Ask around and I am sure you can find the right contractor to do the job ( landscaper or excavator.
Without seeing the area it is hard to tell if the ground you have will grow grass without topsoil. But it sounds like you have planted on it. You might be able to rake and seed the area yourself. It looks like hand work to me. August to October is best for most of the US for planting. I would be glad to help you with the proper seed selection but I would need some more information first and we would also have to discuss what erosion control should be used.

If you are going to terrace using ties or a concrete block type product than it is a go. Working with a roughly 3/1 slope like you have would not be to tricky. I would build three three 5 ft wide steps. You would end up a little further out beyond your 15 ft, if that is a problem make the steps a little smaller. Height would depend on thickness of material used. Finish grade height depends on floor height of shed.

Tom, there are a lot of great ideas here I have a few additional thoughts and comments for you. Guessing from your title I would say you are in NJ. Lets say you are doing 600 feet at 4 feet wide 2,400 sq ft total. First do you have to be perfectly level? You want a smooth path but can you follow the natural contour of the ground? In other words can the path meander up and down a little as long is frendly to those who might be walking inparied? This means only minimal tilling would be needed only to make a smooth surface. I can't see doing major excavation if it can be avoided. If you have to many rocks I would fill rather than till. You only need to be smooth enough to stone on top of. So unless you have bolders this would work. It would also be easer to go around anything large rather than breaking your equipment. We are talking a path not a sidewalk.

I would hand rake the area and tamp with a foot tamper before spreading stone so that minimal product is lost in the sub soil. The best stone type product for NJ and for those heels and wheel chairs would be 3/8 crushed stone or what they call quarry blend (3/8 to dust). Quarry blend woud tamp to a nice smooth surface and still be porrus. Asphalt millings would also work well tamped. It would be nice to end up with a 2 1/2 to 3" thick finished product. Any surface dust would be taken of with a good rain or wash down. I would pull in fill (top soil) to the edges do a little seeding and keep the path clear of weeds with a little Round-up. Pressure treated 2x4's set vertically and pinned with rebar make a reasonably priced edging if the buget allows.

Tom I have got plenty of lifting pressure. So let me run this idea by you just in case I am missing something. I just bought this piece. When I test ran it the 3pt worked. It worked when I got it home. It only had a non filled weight box on the back about 50 pounds. I did raise it will standing on it. Now I more familiar with full size tractors than compacts. Could there have been a un-noticed noise coming from a diverter valve about to go bad? possibly. I was playing around moving little dirt out back before the loader valve broke. As I mentioned before the it was an internal faliure ( curl lever side). When it broke it also blew a highly worn hydro line on the bucket ram. If it is the diverter I know that I can't fix it all myself but considering that I am handy is it possible that I could remove the manifold and just send the valve to the dealer rather than the whole tractor. I really appreicate your time. Thanks again

That is not a bad mixture depending on what you are looking for. Typically any mixture with annual ryegrass in it is a lower priced mix. Not saying cheap just lower. Annual ryegrass has two functions. 1 Quick temporary cover, see it will die off over winter. 2 It takes up space in the soil to nurse other grasses along in conditions were the soil might become hard. When it expires over the winter the following spring the other grasses should take over it's space. If you figure that you are removing 23% of plants from the finished product I am a little concerned the percentage of ryegrass to blue and fescue is a little high to be summer stress tollerant in poorer conditions.
