I have to go with the consensus on this. We have removed a few stumps lately with a front loader, and it is a laborious process. A backhoe is much better suited for the job. Soil type, tree diameter, and all other factors aside, a certain amount of digging ability is needed to quickly remove a stump. A backhoe attachment provides alot more digging capability than a front loader. With a front loader, you end up trying to pull the tree/stump out of the ground rather than dig it out. I would recommend putting a backhoe attachment on the L4310 or looking for a B20/21 or an L35 that already has the backhoe unit.

There is a company we deal with that manufactures attachments for different loader styles from NH to Kubota. I believe they offer a snow blade that would fit your particular loader brackets for a price much less than the Kubota. Drop me an e-mail if you are interested and want me to check for sure. Please check with me before ordering any Kubota filters, parts, or fluids online. The prices that I have seen on several sites are too expensive for OEM parts. I do not want to advertise our dealership name on the post, but I do not want Kubota to get the name of having high parts prices when they do not. For example, we sell 5 gallon buckets of UDT for $32.50. The most expensive Kubota oil filter lists for a little over $10 and most usually sell for around $7.50. I don't have the price list right in front of me, but fuel filters for the B-series cost no more than $4 or $5. HST filters are under $10 and air filters are in the low teens. Kubota parts are not expensive. However, some of the prices I've witnessed might mislead customers. Hopefully this information will help you all get fairer prices on parts.

Mahindra is not related to Massey in any way. For years, starting with IMT and now with TAFE and Mahindra, dealers either intentionally or mistakenly try to connect their products to reputable, well-established companies. You can't blame them for trying to gain market share in a competitive market. However, there is no relationship between TAFE and MF, IMT and MF, or Mahindra and MF. The only tractor company that Massey has historically been associated with is the Italian made Landini. In Europe and Canada, some MF models are actually Landinis painted red. We have been an MF dealer for 20 years and a Landini dealer for 17. So the take-home message is, don't let dealers pull the wool over your eyes and try to convince you that you are buying a Massey with some other name on it. They are wrong and should be ashamed of themselves.

Art is correct. The L35 is not going anywhere. The L48 parallels Kubota's typical approach to market penetration. They start small and then work their way up the horsepower ladder. As far as Carver having L48 info, they are just relaying what Kubota shared with all dealers in New Orleans. They will get their units the same time every other dealer will. As for Kubota pricing, it has kind of baffled me from region to region. Where we are located, if we tried to sell everything at MSRP, we would be out of business due to competitive pressure. In other regions, whether it be collusion, demand, or some other force, Kubota dealers can successfully sell product at a much higher price that approaches MSRP. That seems like a Deere mentality to me. To be honest, given Kubota's corporate tradition, I am kind of surprised that they allow large amounts of internet sales from some dealers. Even though Kubota Corporation requires all dealers to provide warranty service for equipment regardless of dealer origin (which I agree with), it seems like to me that predatory pricing from internet dealers could be a problem since these dealers probably cannot be responsible for updates and warranties on units that they sell hundreds of miles away. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think dealers should sell only into markets that they can potentially provide service to. Sure, you can UPS filters and updates, but that is not service in my opinion. But what do I know? Maybe I'm just an old fashioned Generation X-er. GO CATS!!

This may be old news to most of you, but if you start to develop a small fuel leak on your BX1800 or BX2200 models, it is probably coming from the reserve tank on the tractor rather than the main tank. Kubota has an update that remedies the problem. In short, there is an update kit containing a new little reserve tank and a reinforcement bracket that has to be installed. It is no big deal at all, but the reserve tank is hidden enough that some of our customers have mistakenly thought that their big main tank is leaking. At any rate, I thought I would pass this along. Kubota will be sending a letter out to all owners if they haven't already. The update takes about 0.5 hours and can be done at your nearest servicing dealer. Regards,<br>Brady

Although I wasn't able to make it to New Orleans myself, my Dad represented our dealership there and was indeed impressed by the new ZD18 and ZD21 zero turn mowers. Kubota claims that they have developed a mower in this class that will stay on a hill due to a wider wheelbase and larger tire. To demonstrate, they sprinkled sawdust on a slanted wood surface and then tried to drive a Kubota, an Exmark, and a Deere along the slope. The Kubota was the only one to not slide off. The accessibility of the mower deck is also pretty neat because you can literally rotate the deck 90 degrees upward for service without removing it from the tractor. I wish I had a scanner and I would attach some images. Maybe if Santa is good to me, I will be able to give you all a sneak peak before the first of the year. There may already be some more detailed info on the web. My Dad also said that the L48 was going to be a big hit. Anyway, thought I would pass this on. Brady

We have been a Kubota dealer for 16 years and I would wholeheartedly urge you to buy the Kubota. The most accurate weight numbers available on total unit weight are in the dealer's product and sales guide. The literature numbers could very well not account for any fluids, wheels, tires, or other options. As far as durability, we have put Kubotas in the nastiest and roughest of applications, and they have met the challenge. The competitors in our area do not have any angle to attack Kubota on, so they will sometimes mention that their tractors weigh more. However, they often fail to mention that Kubota provides an extra year of powertrain warranty, unmatched ease of operation, and fantastic parts service. Furthermore, if all our mechanics had to do was work on Kubotas, they would only have to come in about once a week. Whether the weight numbers you've seen are accurate or not, I would be much more concerned with other aspects of the product and the company behind it. Given New Holland's last five years of history, they are following down the AGCO road of joint ventures and acquisitions. I believe that Kubota's focus is one of the biggest reasons that they produce such a superior product. And, though partial, I will shoot straight with you on Kubotas. They are the best all the way around. Also, I am surpised that the Kubota is the same price as the NH because Kubota is usually a little cheaper than comparable NH and Deere models. Thought that some of you Kubota fans might be interested to know that Kubota is supposed to unveil a new zero degree turn mower somtime next year. I haven't seen one yet, but I've heard through the grapevine that they are going to be really something. Anyone heard anything more about them?

I would get a second opinion on the repair work, as well. I cannot ever remember a $3900.00 Kubota repair bill coming out of our shop, and we have been Kubota dealers a long time. I would find out exactly what the dealer is planning to do and ask to see the parts that they are going to replace. I hate to second-guess fellow dealers, but it wouldn't hurt to check. Some of the slower moving parts for the older L-series models tend to be pricier than others. If you have part numbers, let me know and I will give you the list prices on the parts to make sure that they are not jacking the prices up way above list.

Speaking as a dealer, many times the reason that we seem unwilling to help is that we have no more information on these grey market models than you do. As has been stated in one of the other replies, these tractors are illegally imported into the US by people who want to make a fast buck at the expense of Kubota. I do not blame Kubota for not supporting these models because, if they do, they would basically add fuel to the fire. If the importers ever get a hint that Kubota is going to give in and support these models, the market would be flooded with more illegal units. In the past 10 years, John Deere, Ford, and MF have faced similar crooks and dealt with them in the same way. From our experience of over a quarter a century, Kubota is the best company in the world. They always put the customer first and back their products better than anyone. So, in short, blame the person who sold you this grey market tractor. They undoubtedly knew what they were doing and didn't care. Don't blame Kubota. They are merely supporting just policies that were put in place to protect their customers and dealers. For the difference in the initial investment, I would have a Kubota dealer get you the correct OEM mower. Nothing against Woods or any other manufacturer, but not only will the mower fit correctly, the future resale of your machine will be enhanced if the Kubota mower is on there. Plus, my experience as a dealer has been that you should be able to buy the Kubota mower for close to the same money as a Woods belly mower. If you want to save a little money, buy a rear mount finishing mower from Landpride, Woods, or a less expensive manufacturer. However, I prefer the mid-mounts. E-mail me if you have any questions.

Jim said it right. There is absolutely no reason to ever use ether as a starting aid in a Kubota. We have had more than one customer, unfortunately, find out the hard way even though they've been warned. Ether aside, I would check the glow plugs. Chances are, she'll fire off like a cannon after you replace these.

My family owns a Kubota dealership in Kentucky and, from experience, I would go for the L3010. The biggest reason is that I can tell, based on your description, that you are leaning toward the the larger unit. Also, based on the relatively small difference in price, I think the L3010 is the best buy. So far this year, we have sold more L3010's than any other model in the entire Kubota family. Either tractor is going to do you a great job and give unmatched service. However, I would go with my heart. We have had at least two people with your same dilemma this year come back and trade up one or two sizes after only a few hours of service. Overall, you've already made the most important decision. You've decided on the best brand of compact on the market regardless if you decide on a B or L.

Although the B7100HST w/ mower may book for a little over $9000, you probably realistically will not be able to sell it for this amount. We sold the last B7100HST models for around $10,500 new a couple or three years ago. Plus, you can still buy a comparable unit (B7500, etc.) for a reasonable price. Thus, since it is 5-6 years old, you can probably expect a maximum of $8,000. However, I will never discount the possibility that you might find a buyer who will pay a higher premium due to the machine's condition and previous owner. Plus, Kubota does have a better resale than any mower on the market. Price it high and come down if necessary. Personally, I have always been partial to the B7100 because it was the last old-school lawn tractor with the square hood and workhouse construction. Don't get me wrong; the new Kubotas are fantastic machines. However, the discontinuing of this model was kind of end of an era. We have been a Kubota dealer for around 15 years and the B7100HST had been around longer than us. Good luck selling and e-mail me direct if you have any questions.

Sorry that I didn't get a price on a new engine. I just now saw your reply. I did get a price on a complete new cylinder head from Kubota. It would be $635.17 with free freight. You could also check with West Kentucky Tractor Parts in Kevil, KY at 270-462-2191. They have alot of used compact tractor parts. If you want, I can call down Monday and get a quote for a complete new engine from Kubota. Let me know what you think, and I will help any way I can.
