I have a 6ft Caroni finish mower that I bought for about $1000 a year ago. I routinely use it for mowing our 6-7 acres of pasture (some of it very bumpy). It cuts very well, but I never let the pasture grass get over 7-8".

I bought my Caroni mower from Sweet Farm Equipment in Kentucky, the unit was $999 + $140 freight. Agri Supply in NC is a little cheaper, $939 for the 71" and $1185 for the 91" + freight. Both companies have web pages, just search on the names. There is a local dealer in Whitmore Lake (SE Michigan), his prices were higher, $1200 for the 71" + sales tax.

About two months ago I bought a 1991 JD870, 4wd, 80 loader, 6ft rake, turf wheels/tires and almost new set of Ag wheels/tires thrown in, 420 hours, excellent condition. The seller was originally asking $13,900, then went down to $13,000. I offered $12K and he accepted a few days later. I've put 50 hours on it already with no problems at all. It's been a great machine and has cut my total mowing time in half since I bought my 6ft Caroni finish mower.
