Go Bottomare box scrapers worth it

I'm thinking of buying a box scraper. Are they really worth the money? I have a small kubota and a 6' york rake and was wondering how much more the box scraper does than a good york rake? Any info is appreciated.

A rake works good depending on what you want to do. It don't allow you to move dirt as well as a box scraper. a box with the teeth also works well for tearing up the dirt and sod so it can be moved and spread were you would like it.some will say there like the swiss army knife of 3 point tools.I use mine alot. ....

Thanks for the info. So It will tear up hard solid ground and tear up the turf? What sixe is best for a smaller tractor? I have a 22 hp BX2200 kubota. ....

A 20 hp tractor you can go with a 4' or 5'. If you want to do heavy work and think that you will be straining your tractor you may want to go with a 4. But if you think that you do not need the narrower of the 2 and you will not be working the tractor to death, then go with the 5'. Don't go with the cheapest $200.00 boxblade either. You may end up bending the pins on the blade where it hooks up to your tractor. ....

I had a 5ft for my 30 HP 790 and it work well,Now when I hook to my 5205 it's a bit small but I can tilt it to where the teeth are digging full depht with out even knowing it's bach there. I would think a 4 ft would do you well. ....

Because of the shorteer lift arms on the Sub-Compacts, you need to be a little carefull of the box blade you select. Most box blades have a 17" moldboard height, which may be too much for the BX. If the moldboard is too high, you won't be able to raise it off the ground. Several manufacturers have 3-point implements that are designed specifically for the sub-compacts. They generally have moldboards that are around 12" and will fit your tractor much better. KingKutter has the XB series implements that are category 0-1 that would fit very well.
Make sure whatever you get has good weight to it. A box blades efficiency is largely determined by how heavy it is. For a 22hp tractor, a 48" or 54" box would be best, and should weigh around 300lbs. ....

Guys, Thanks for the info. This is a great site woth every bit of the 20 bucks it cost me to join. I've "met" a good bunch of guys on here, too bad we all don't live on the same street! ....
