onan engine

i have a massey ferguson 1655 with an onan engine 16 hp looking for a replacement or possibly upgrading to larger engine. anyone know if i can use different brand of engine or do i have to stay w/onan.

Walt,I don't know if you can choose another engine brand or upgrade. I do know that I have been using an Onan in my JD318 for many hours without a problem. It always starts, has plenty of power, and requires minimal maintance. I think the quality is worth the price. ....
