I need to several types of grass seed and granular fertilizer over 5 acres. Does anyone know of a three-point applicator I could put behind my JD 4400? Make/Model and at what price? Suggestions?

I brought a broadcast spreader for $300 from Fleet-Farm in central Wi. It`s an "EC" of italian linage. It will hold ~ 800lbs granular fertilizer. By adjusting the heigth and PTO speed and ground speed you can control the amount applied. I had one disaster with it. The PTO was running and I closed the openings. The fertilizer fused from the heat to a rock hard mass about 12" high in the bottom shearing off the bottom most 'stirrer'. Interestingly it didn`t bust break the 'stirrer'that sticks up. I had to hand broadcast 600lbs of fertilizer out(a 3 hr job) take a hammer and bust up the new geological formation in the bottom of the hopper and spend $50 at the local welding shop to get the bottom stirrer rotating again. I had a 16% nitrogen,47% phosphorus mix in the hopper .I don`t know if that had something to do with this 'neolithic'formation but I don`t run the PTO without the fertilizer flowing.I cost me 50 bucks to fix because we had to fashion a new bracket for the lower 'stirrer'. Live and learn! A USA machine that is well made is a Herd Sure Feed out of Logansport Ind. I have no idea about price. ....

After shopping for a combination seeder/fertilizer spreader I found the Herd Model 750 to be an excellent choice--it will spread about anything, but doesn't come cheap at about $750-850. For fall seeding and fertilizer spreading this year I rented one of the less expensive red ones (don't recall the brand) and found that it spread fertilizer pretty well, but grass seed was much more difficult. ....
