What size rotary cutter for B2100? I know what the manual calls for but one dealer tells me 4 ft. and another tells me 5 ft. I will be mowing mostly grown up old fields with some brush. Also are the tow behind better or worse than the 3 point hitch mowers?

the b series can easily handle the four foot bush-hog the five foot is much larger and more awkward. you would definitly need front loader or a lot of counter weight. depending on grasses mowed you might need more horsepower. the four foot you might be able to mow at a faster speed the four foot bush-hog squealer model requires 10-25hp the 5ft. requires 15-30hp. the choice is yours I would ask your dealers to put the mower on a tractor of equivelent size and drive it around or who may have one in your area you can talk to ....

I've got a TC21D (the 21hp boomer) which should have about the same capacity as the b2100, I use a 5ft cutter and it works great. The only time it bogs down is when I've got it set to ride too low and it scrapes ground. Otherwise it mows through 1-2" fir trees and all the brush you can drive through without making the tractor even breath hard. Art has a point about the weight though, it does get a little light in the front when you have the cutter lifted, unless you have a loader/weights mounted. If I were to do it again, I'd still get the 5-footer, especially if I had large areas to cut where that extra 25% width would save time. Beware though, it is a big, wide, long, heavy, unweildy implement to maneuver with in tight quarters. ....

I have a 5 footer on my B2710 and it works great. Seems to be the perfect weight for the loader, and find it easy to control. Its cuts beautifully as fast as I can go with getting bucked off the tractor in my rough pasture. ....
