I think NH and Kubota tend to use indirect injection engines while JD tends to use direct injection.

I don't think there's really much to choose from between the two from an owner's perspective. Indirect may be a bit quieter and smoother while direct may be a bit more efficient. Newer engine design has mostly eliminated the cold weather starting problems of direct injection engines. ....
