I have the opportunity to purchase a Yanmar 165D. It is a 4WD, manual transmission. Attachments include Maschio Mower, Tiller, front loader, log splitter and sprayer. There's a lot I need to find out-year, hours, etc. but I am curious if anyone has information on hp, approximate value, etc.

Tractor runs well. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, not sure how much I can be of help, but I will try,
The 165 is a tractor made by Yanmar for the U.S. market, this is not a "gray", not sure about the years made, but tractor has a 16 hp engine, with about 12 hp or so available at the PTO.I have found that parts are readily available from various Yanmardealers here on the internet, prices are reasonable, parts, owner and shopmanuals are exellent but pricey, but definitely worth getting. Very little or no commonality with the John Deere tractors and do not expect a JD dealer to get parts for you(In contrast to some salespitches you might hear)I have found the Yanmar tractor to be a very well build tractor with a very loyal and passionate ownersgroup. Pricing varies with location and condition, but normaly are substantially above gray prices
Thanks

Thanks for the info. Found out that it is 1980-82 or so and has 720 hours. Maintenance is current on it and owner has records. I'm not familiar with the term "gray". Can you please explain? Thanks for the help.

Michael,
The term "gray" refers to all tractors, not just Yanmars, not made for the U.S. markets and imported (used) by people here in the U.S.,mainly from Japan and the rest of the Far East. There is no less quality in these imported units, but they can have some odd things that you won't see on US tractors such as decals in Japanese, don't have some or any of the saftey features, 4 or more PTO speeds and 3 point hiches that are non standard. Parts for these tractors are not supported by Yanmar USA(liability)but there are several dealers that specialize in these tractors and get their parts straight from Japan. As a result you can get a good tractor for a good price, as long as you know what you are getting into. With a 165 specificly made for the US market,, you will have no problem getting parts( the main parts distributer is 20 minutes from my house), if you are handy with a wrench, the manuals are exellent, if not, get them anyway, and than you can take it to any dieselmechanic and they will be able to work on it.At 700 hrs this tractor is still almost new :), however, a lot of these tractors have only 3 digit meters, so make sure it is not 1700 or 2700 hrs, but general condition(paintwear etc.) will tell you how rough of a life it has had.all with all you get a reliable, dependable little tractor.
For more info on "gray's" , type it in a searchengine, there is all kind of information out there
Thanks Pete ....
