I have a YM2820 tractor with 12.4x28 tires and wheels. I want to install a set of turf tires (R-3) and rims for mowing 5 acres of grass. My question is? is there a truck rim that can be substituted for the standard tractor wheel? and how do you determine the tire /wheel height ratio? This tractor is a 2wheel unit so there is little problem with front to rear ratio problems. Only that I want the tractor to maintain (if possible) the factory stance. Someone suggested that a late model Chevy 1 ton 4 wheel drive wheel might work if then6 lug holes where drilled out to about 5/8". Does anyone know if this is workable? and if not what might your BEST suggestion be?

Thanks in Advance

The YM2820 is such a nice tractor. I had one a while back and sure enjoyed it. With 2wd, you have little concern other than picking a tire size that is common (read: less expensive) and that will give your tractor the right stance. I have used aftermarket chevy truck rims drilled out to 5/8" on a YM2310. I'm not sure if the bolt pattern is the same for a 2820. If it is, you have a wide variety of widths available in both 15" and 16". The 2820 uses a fairly tall tire though so you will want something that isn't real squatty. Check out firestoneag.com for availablility of different sized tires. There is also a company called Hey Wheel (they are on the web) that makes custom wheels reasonably. Best of luck. ....

The 2820 doesn't have the same bolt pattern as the smaller models. Hey Wheel is your best bet. FYI I have a set of spools that let you mount duals on your tractor if you think you would ever want such a setup. They came of of a 3110 with dual turfs for mowing a golf course in Japan. ....
