I can no longer lift any weight in the loader and the tiller will only pickup up if I rev up the engine. Have changed the hydraulic filter, cleaned the hyd suction screen, removed & inspected the hyd pump and all looks great. Any ideas as to what could be causing the problem? It is as if a relief valve is open.

A relief valve sure could be the explanation. A bad pump is another likely candidate, especially if the suction tube and filter were checked. I don't believe that broken relief valves make the characteristic sound of one that opens at system pressure.

In theory, some sort of failure in the loader valve assembly might provide a return to the sump through the power beyond line, but that seems pretty unlikely. A pressure test done at the auxiliary system outlet port would eliminate problems in the auxiliary system anyway. A manual would describe the procedure for testing the system pressure, and gauges are inexpensive.

If little pressure develops at the aux output port, the question then is whether the relief valve is broken or the pump isn't developing pressure. A dead end pressure test can be preformed directly on the pump output, although a gauge with a different scale would be needed and most manuals don't give max pressure specs. A procedure should be followed here as well.
