I'm looking to purchase the 1204-4 with a bucket loader, was quoted $12,000.00 through one dealer. Is this a high price?/ o would appreciate any help. Are there other MF dealers in the CT, NY, Ma, RI area. MF has so little on the net.

I believe that Massey became part of AGCO--a whole flock of formerly well-known tractors were bought out by what eventually became known as AGCO. I believe it is now the world's largest producer of tractors, although they are mainly known for farm tractors.

I know that if I look in my phone book, I will find several dealers who still carry the Massey name, but the largest area dealer carries the AGCO name. You might have better luck finding an AGCO dealer than a Massey dealer. For better or worse, AGCO is the company you'd be dealing with even with a dealer who still carries the Massey name.

I don't know how many of the manufacturers that were acquired by AGCO made compacts, but it is potentially a large number of models. I also haven't heard how much support for these tractors is provided by AGCO, but it is a little difficult to imagine that the company would continue to maintain a complete parts system for a large number of out of production models indefinitely. However, there are a lot of Massey tractors out there and they were well regarded. I guess that's why dealers still carry the name.

AGCO still manufactures and sells Massey equipment, including the Massey compact line, as well as tractors w/ the AGCO brand - and they don't seem to be just different paint jobs - but distinct product lines.

Have both an AGCO dealer and Massey dealer w/in 15 miles of me.

moco - sorry I can't help w/ the prices though. ....

Massey Ferguson is a subsidiary of AGCO and has been the number one selling brand of tractor in the world since 1962. There are several companies(around a dozen)under the AGCO umbrella. AGCO is the only large US agriculture company that was in the green last year. As far as compacts go, Iseki in Japan makes the AGCO and Massey compacts. I don’t know just what the arrangement is but AGCO appears to own part of Iseki.
