I have owned a Kubota G5200 HST for about two years (bought used). Everything's fine except that I keep burning up the mower deck belt. I've tried lubricating every single available moving part, but I can still tell it burns up the belt when I engage the mower. I've replaced the belt twice already. I use the mower within parameters (i.e I don't try to cut waist high grass with it). Any suggestions why this may be happening and how to stop it? Thanks.

Suggest you check the spindles for binding. With your PTO disconnected from the deck, you should be able to push the belts to rotate the pulleys by hand, if you can't, pull the belt off and determine which spindle is stuck.Another possible problem is often the idler Pulley can be worn so that it shimmeys under load, looks normal when stopped. Pull up and down on it, if it moves its shot and needs to be replaced, some of these are permanently sealed so they can't be lubed to prevent this.I would also look at the rest of the tensioner springs and such as this assembly can get clogged with debris which will prohibit its movement, and in turn burn up your belts. Make sure it can move back and forth to take up the slack in the belt as belt tension changes.Dennis ....

Dennis has good points, also check to see if your deck is one of the Kubota decks that has an updated tensioner/idler arm and pivot available. Pivot wear causes the idler to run out of parallel to the spindle pulleys, shortening belt life. ....

I have owned a G4200 for nearly 15 years. I purchased it new. Early on in its life, I experienced the exact same problem. I inquired at the dealer and was given a new set of pulleys (3) at no charge. The dealer indicated that there was a recall on them. Since that time, I have run hundreds of hours with no further belt wear problems. ....
