Has anyone here installed a Roll Over Protection System on a small Massey Ferguson? My 230 does not have one, and the area where I work it is really not steeply sloped, but I wonder about whether it would be a good idea to put one on. The M-F dealer tells me that he will sell the ROPS at cost, which is about $572 plus $175 shipping from California to SC. The installation, however, would be as much as the shipping. I'm cheap enough to try it myself if the job is straightforward. On the other hand, I'm cheap enough to forget the whole deal if I can convince myself that I don't need one. Comments welcomed.

On my 235, the ROPS is welded to the plate on the top of the axle that holds the fender. I don't know if this plate would come with the ROPS, in which case it is a bolt up or if you would have to do the welding.......

Definately put the ROPS on. No one ever plans on roll overs, but it happens and people die. I put a ROPS on a JD 950 myself. I am a little suprised at your cost. I got mine from JD, supposedly at their cost, for about $350. Mine just bolted on. It is quite heavy and would have been easier with a second person, but I managed by myself. ....

There was a discussion awhile back and maybe on another board that might be read before trying to install one yourself. Somebody said they cracked an axle housing on some model of Kubota I think. From the discussion, I gathered that there are tightening sequences and torque specs to follow for installing ROPS on at least some tractors. ....
