Just bought a new F4350 Branson tractor w/loader. It has a two speed PTO which I was thinking would be good for blowing snow at the higher speed, is this a good idea or not? Anyone else have one?

Implements are designed for a particular PTO speed. Using one at higher RPM's risks over-speeding and damaging the implement and may create a safety hazard. However, most engineering designs contain safety factors, so performance specs can be pushed somewhat. Operating in excess of specs can't be recommended, and the risks should be recognized.

I have heard of people operating 540 RPM implements at higher PTO speeds but using less engine rpm. I'm not sure why, but the idea seems to be saving wear and tear and using less fuel. I'm not sure these reasons are valid, and the idea strikes me as not all that good. Anyway, you'll probably like the tractor and find the blower throws snow far enough at the standard PTO speed.
