OK, I've got a quick question for anyone out there in CTB world. What makes and models of FEL can I use with a JD 4100? I did not buy the 410 yet and was curious what my options were. Thanks.

There are at least half a dozen different manufacturers who make a loader for that tractor. Just call them up and ask. The Bushhog, Koyker?, and GB loaders are some you could start with. The loaders are pretty much similar, with the biggest difference being in how they are mounted. Original JD is usually the most expensive (and excellently built).....although there is not a huge spread in price or quality. I wish I could tell you that one brand of loader was a lot better than another, but they all seem pretty much the same for the smaller loaders. Once you get into the larger farm-size loaders and commercial tractors - then you begin to see more of a variation in price where more money does buy higher quality components.

I spent last spring checking out options for my 4100. The Great Bend 220 is very well built and specs compare favorably to the JD 410 loader. You can save about $600 by getting a Great Bend. But I finally went with the JD 410 loader, because it is the only loader with a subframe that is compatable with my mid mount mower. This issue and the quick detach feature of the 410 is what sold me. I would have had to completely strip out the loader subframe assembly each time I mounted my mid-mower. Obviously not a reasonable option. So in summary, if you don't want to use a mid-mower deck, and you won't be removing the loader much or at all, then cheaper would work OK for you. Otherwise the 410 loader is the way to go. ....
