I am getting ready to purchase a JD 4200 tractor and was wondering what mower would you all reccomend? My neighbor has a land pride and its belt was always coming undone or losing a pin or loosing a wheel. I will be mowing 5 acres. I figure a 60" mower will be about the size I go with.Thanks

If it were me, I would get the 60" JD belly mower for the 4200. But it is not me, but you, who needs to decide. Good luck. ....

Just thought I would add my two cents about Landpride finish mowers. I have a Landpride AT2560 finish mower. The mower is in its second cutting season with 181 cutting hours, mowing 10 acres, and no problems. I would absolutely buy another Landpride mower due to the flawless performance so far. However, keeping the belt guides greased and gear box filled with adequate oil means all the difference. Good Luck. ....

Trae, I also have a Landpride finish mower, AT2572. I mow 2 acres and am on my second season without a problem. The above poster is correct, proper maintenance is a must with any equipment. David ....

Trae I've used the LP72" for the 7th season. Pin only lost one time. The nature of the pin and spring clips dictate paying attention to them. I also grease mine every mowing. I have looked at other rear decks and most have a similar arrangement so it is not a LP specific problem. ....

If you are mowing 5 acres, I would suggest at least a 72". I run a 60" king kutter with my 4100 with no problems, and am pretty confident I could run a 72" with no problems. 5 acres is a lot of land to mow, I'd go as big as you can! I am considering switching to a mid mount (probably the 56" for cost reasons) but I am only mowing 3/4 acre with trees and flower beds. A mid mount would just make the job easier! ....

I am mowing about 8 acres with my JD 955. I was debating which type finish mower to buy, either belly or rear. I am so glad I decided on the 72" belly mower. Manueverability is so much easier, especially backing up & going around trees etc. My 2 cents worth. ....

Trae, I have never lost a wheel pin and subsequently lost the wheel. However, I do believe others have lost a pin due to the pin not being closed in the proper direction. Maybe other posters can help here, but I think the pin is designed to be closed correctly in one direction even though the pin can be fastened in either direction. Also, I agree with one poster who said if you are mowing 5 acres or more go with a 72". I only have a 60" mowing 10 acres and it is a tad small. Good Luck. ....
