I have a new B7500 with a mid mount mower. When I removed the mid mower to use an implement off the rear, it was extremely difficult to release and pull off the mid pto drive shaft. The drive shaft actually comes apart. So, I ended up sliding the drive shaft apart to allow removal of the mower deck. I then was able to get under the tractor and pull the shaft off the mid pto. I realize there is the collar that needs to be pulled back to release the drive shaft. I had the same problem puting the deck back on. I could'nt get the drive shaft to slide all the way onto the PTO, unless I once again split the shaft and got under the tractor to get better leverage. Am I missing something or is this the nature of the beast. The manual makes it sound rather easy. I even tried putting some grease on the PTO. Good thing for the FEL, what a helper in getting the front drive shaft/tires out of the way.

I'm not too familiar with the kubota, but I had a belly mower on a Cub Cadet. The drive shaft on it was hard to remove if it sat for extened periods without being used. Possibly from light surface rust. As I used the tractor more and removed and reinstalled the mower quite a few times it did start to loosen up. i.e. it broke in and the tolerances loosened up some. ....

I too own a B7500, and I don't believe what you are describing is the "nature of the beast." My belly mower drive shaft slides of slicker than snot on a glass doorknob. I would say that there is either some rust on the splines, or perhaps a burr. Check it out... either one of those problems can be taken care of easily. The rust can be removed with some wd-40 and a wire brush... a burr can be removed with a file or a small sharpening stone. If neither of those is the culprit, I would say that somebody missed a tolerance somewhere. And amen to the loader making it easy to take the mower on and off. ....

I spoke with the dealer and they said that it is not un-common, especially the first handful of times taking the mower deck off and on. Hopefully it will loosen up over time. I guees I will have to see. ....
