I like the TC40D, and am going to buy either a TC40-45D or a JD 4600 with loader. I need help:1)Is Supersteer durable and worth the cost?2)Is electronic dual range hydrostatic reliable and durable? (I can't help but think: more complex, more problems.) Is manual range hydrostatic available? I have noted the tranny recall.3) How good is the 12/12 shuttle? I'll use it for occasional loader work, and haven't driven one yet, since local dealer doesn't currently have one.4)Can front axle take the stress of the out-front loader? Thanks for any guidance.

Phil, I cannot comment on the NH, I know very little about them. I do have a JD 4700 and like it very much. If you would like to pick what little brian I have about the JD, feel free to e-mail me. David ....

Phil,

I have 100hrs on my 35D which is very similmar to the 40D. I don't have supersteer but will try your other questions. I do have the range gear problem (recall) though the problem has never manifested itself. I'll get it repaired soon. I really like the dual range hydro and use it all the time. I'm pretty active on the tractor boards and have not heard of any problems with this feature. In additona I'm not aware of any problems with the front axles (supersteer) or otherwise. FWIW, I like my machine a lot and am very comfortable with my choice.

Thanks for your thoughts. I am leaning toward the TC45D, no supersteer, if I get NH. My local dealer has not been quick on getting back, so have not made a lot of progress in last week, but will keep posting and watching! Any more thoughts on reliability of electronic dual-range speeds for HST? ....

I have had my TC40D with SS for about a week now. I find that I use the electronic shuttle all the time. I am glad that I got the SS. I don't see the chance of too much going wrong with that. It is a pretty simple and clever setup. The reason that I got the SS and not a TC45D is that you can't ever put a mid PTO on it. I don't need one right now, but who knows what the future holds. I don't plan on ever buying a replacement, so I wanted everything possible this time around. Good Luck, Tom K. ....
