Can anyone tell me what the difference between the JD4300 and the L3010? Is it price alone? Dealor support seems about the same. Does a couple PTO horsepower make a big difference? Will be used for mowing (rough and finish), 2000 feet of driveway (dirt, gravel, drainage control and snow removal), and maintain water front. All relatively flat.Any advice will be appreciated -- gonna buy within 45 days.tnx, Dave

I feel you pain. I went through a similar decision last fall. Ended up buying the JD 4300. The choice for me was swayed by two factors; the JD dealer is top notch and I liked the ergonomics of the 4300 better than the L3010. For my application the actual tractor specs were a wash. I also compared the JD 790 with the Kubota economy L3000 and probably also would have gone with the JD for the same reasons. But that's just me. You need to get what's going to work out best for you. Don't let anyone tell you that either is a bad choice. Try them both if you can. With the high quality and similar specs of most tractors out there today, it's sometimes as simple as picking the color you like best; assuming the dealers are all equal. ....

You didn't mention what size mower you intend to use. Therefore the question of PTO HP making a difference is difficult to answer. Sometimes it can make all the difference in the world if you are using an implement that is rated very close to the lesser PTO HP tractor. A harder working tractor will tend to use more fuel and will be more prone to wear and tear issues.
Nothing new there...
We have a JD4100 with FEL. I also looked at the Kubotas and decided green for a few reasons that do not appear in graphs and charts. We have numerous green dealers that were friendly and worked with us above and beyond what we expected. I cannot say the same for the orange units.(Unfortunately). Additionally, many of the features on the JD was more user friendly .IMO.
I think Kubota may be a more durable/proven unit, but the JD has met our needs with ease. As you probably know, JD has had its share of problems, as did mine. But all has been taken care of. I probably would not do things different if I had the chance... Well...I take that back. I'd consider a NH.
FWIW: I am currently helping my neighbor buy a tractor, and once again have the feeling that Kubota needs to educate their dealers about the value of customer service. Carver has been the exception. ....

Jeff, If you don't mind I would appreciate hearing your problems with your 4100. I purchased a 4100 HST last July. Currently 60 hours, no problems, love the tractor. Thanks, Eric ....
