Figured I'd start a second thread about my neighbors interest in an L3710.How do you know if you've negotiated a good price? What's a good price for an L3710 HST with the Loader?Additionally we live up here in E. PA. One of the Kubota dealers we are looking at is Carver. Mostly because they are listed on this site. If Carver yields the best numbers... How much of a savings warrants that kind of drive to pick it up? Not exactly down the road if you know what I mean.

Hi Micheal i'm from northeast Pa I've been looking in this area for 2 yrs now and though I like the NH tractors and will probably give them the nod Kub is still in the running the best price I have so far though is from the dealer below he's 65 miles away from me add the endless mountain range and it might as well be 100 for your poor truck my closest dealer is 2000$ higher on just tractor and loader so good luck. Michael, good question, how do you know? IMHO, knowledge gained from research is going to tell you what you need to know. Although I've never done business with Carver I am confident that I would if his business was closer. The most telling reason is that he is open about his policies and brings you into the ball park dollar wise with his quotes like, "...much lower than $XXK..." Carver also spends the money required to prove he is dedicated to his business (complete service center, large parts inventory, experienced help), this makes it seem likely that he won't be taking off after the sale. As far as price comparisons, the dealers here in Connecticut won't even try to discount. Nor do they really know the Kubota product line. As I was told when I went to look at the new Kubota L48, the msrp is the price, no cuts. I took the time to spec the machine the way I wanted it, and with each addition, it was msrp-take it or leave it. I then took the qoute to two other dealers, same thing, msrp take it or leave it. Some dealers won't even let you work the machine, "...you can drive it but you can't dig with it..." What's up with that? I avoid them like the plague (or is it mad cow these days). My Cub Cadet dealer actually has machines he'll deliver to your home so you can use them, under his supervision, and this goes a long way toward building respect and confidence. So, shop around and have fun doing it, ask a gazillion questions of mechanic and salesperson alike, drive 'em, get 'em dirty. But don't ever pay msrp if you can help it. ....

Ted,

I'm sorry that you've had such poor experiences with Kubota dealers in CT. In fairness though, I have to point out that I believe they've changed their ways somewhat. I bought a B2410 package last month after a few months research and looking around. The quotes I ended up with were not as good as what I've seen here, but they weren't MSRP (something like 12-15% off list, I would say). Maybe the discount is partly a function of the tractor model and the L48 was particularly hot at the time, but I think some of the older Kubota dealers in the state have been forced to compete a little better with the likes of Carver Equipment and some newer in-state Kubota dealers. ....
