I found a 1991 Case-IH 1130 for sale nearby. It's a clean looking tractor with 1157 hours. The problem is this; I can't find any information about this particular model tractor anywhere. Can anyone offer any advice?

From the 1998 Farm Equipment Guide Blue Book: the Case-IH 1130 compact utility was manufactured 1991-1994, was available in 2wd and 4wd, and has a mitsubishi K3G 3-cylinder diesel engine. The engine is rated at 20HP PTO. The transmission has 9 fwd/3 reverse and is synchronized. The 2wd unit weighs 1900 lbs and originally listed for $11,500. The 4wd unit weighs 2,050 and originally listed for $12,630. Average auction prices: (Low/High/Avg) - 2wd($3100/$5250/$4865) 4wd ($3164/$5823/$5345). Hope this information helps and good luck on the purchase. Regards

It is interesting that what Case dropped for lack of interest, Cub picked up and has been very successful. I think MF also had their turn with the compact Mitsubishi's, but the early units were known for poor engine cooling under heavy loads. Cub worked with Mitsubishi to correct this and now have an excellent all around performer. Check the thermostat and radiator very carefully, look for any signs of overheating. Also, the 1130's, if I recall correctly, had a weak seal on the main hydraulic pump and leakage from the hydraulic supply into the crankcase was common. Good luck. ....

Actually the early Massey compacts were built by Hinomoto/Toyosha. Allis Chalmer/Duetz Allis also sold Hinomoto tractors. Currently Massey's compact line is built by Iseki as are the new AGCO Allis compacts and the old White and Bolens compact diesels. I believe that Massey made the switch around 1990 give or take a year. At one time Iseki built tractors that used Mitsubishi and Isuzu diesel engines. I think all of the new Isekis have Iseki engines in them, but I am not sure.

Ted the Mitshi line came here in the 70's on their own originally. They were then marketed by IH in the late 70's and were taken up in the merger to Case-IH. Case-IH management in there infinite wisdom decided to go BIG equipment only and at one time was dropping everything under 60pto horsepower. They since have realized it was a mistake and of coarse now they return. Massy, Mitshi, nothing I've ever heard about. ....

Thanks Art for keeping me on track, this is what I love about this board. As I've said before, the sum total of the knowledge contributed herein is an awesome thing. So now Case has a small tractor once again, thanks to New Holland. Next time I'm at my Case dealer to buy filters for my 580 I'll have to check out the new red boomers. ....
