I am used to the convenience of a belly mower, having had one on each of the compact diesel tractors that I have owned (currently I have a JD4400HST with 60 inch commercial belly mower). Consideration is being given to moving up to a Boomer TC35D with a 7 ft. rear finish mower (Rhino, Woods or Bushog). QUESTION:is a rear finish mower practical for me after 20 years of using belly mowers--I mow around 50 trees and other objects in my small acreage of a yard. Opinions? Mike S.

If you are mowing around very many obstacles the belly mount is the way to go. Consider one thing. You are adding an additional 6 to 7 feet to the overall length of your unit. Rear finish mowers are best suited for open and level mowing. I went from regular garden type mower to my rear mount and it takes some getting used to. I have a few trees and I sometimes wish I had a mid-mount but the ease of removing my mower has kept me with the rear mount. ....

Mike, last year I went from mowing with a 38" Cub Cadet (riding mower) to a 60" rear Bush Hog finish mower behind my B2710. I have about 28 trees, in addition to a swing, birdbath, grandkids' basketball goal, 4 power poles, etc. Now I'm very happy with mine, but like Cliff said, it'll take some getting used to, so I'm afraid I could neither encourage nor discourage you; tough decision. ....

Tough one Mike. Like Bird, I went from a riding mower (JD 318) to a 24 horse Kubota with 5', 3-pt mower 2 summers ago. I also have approximately 30 or so "obstacles" to mow around and lots of edging along fences in about 2-1/2 acres of garden and I don't think I would change back but sometimes, when I'm in a hurry, I do wish for the convenience of a belly mower. They are a little trickier to use because of the increased length and I have wiped out a bottom rail of fencing or two making a turn too fast. I think that in your position, and depending what else you have to do with the tractor, ie. do you have to remove the mower often to do other things or need the ground clearance?, I would be inclined to stay with the belly mower but it's not an easy choice. In the end, I think it comes down to personal preference and what you feel most comfortable with. I know, this isn't much help but let us know what you decide. ....

Mike, I have a TC35D with an NH 84" belly mower...it was expensive but it works great. I mow around about 25 trees and the super steer/belly mower combo is the ticket. ....

I have a NH TC33D with 60" belly mower. It works great. However, I also use a backhoe. Therefore, the 3+ hours spent uninstalling and reinstalling the lift system and hoe frame mounts became a bit too much. Thought I would plan all my hoe work around the cutting season. Didn't happen.
Clearance is another issue while performing other chores (loader work etc.). I'm very close to purchasing a Land Pride rear discharge 3pt unit.

If you purchase the Land Pride mower let me know how it works. I couldn't decide between the Land Pride or the Woods RD7200. I ended up with the woods basically on a coin toss. They both appeared to be very good machines. The woods has worked flawlessly so far.

Mike I have the TC35D with the L.P. RD257200 I finish mow a 2acre yard a 1 1/2 acre Yard and a 5 acre field absolutely love the 3pt. mower I like the fact that I can trim with it by backing into places you normaly would need to push mow. any direct questions you have go ahead and e-mail me good luck ....
