Anyone wondering about the ability of a small compact to clear snow? I Just cleared 12" of snow (it is still falling) here in southern Missouri using a JD4100 with turf tires (about 200 yards cleared). It works great. The turf tires provide plenty of traction. I use a heavy (386lbs) 5' rear blade from Monroe Tufline (hell-of-b lade); the loader is OK for pushing loose snow and moving it around, but not for clearing a large area. While the Tufline blade is expensive (over $500 plus another 100 for the skid shoes), it comes with a stand which is nice and will adjust any way you want including angled (for trenching) andoffset.

Sounds a little uncommon for S Mo, and it sounds like you're having fun. I also imagine you don't expect the snow to hang around all winter. So, I don't expect you'll have our northern problem of figuring out where to put the first snow so you don't run out of space by spring. However, you might have another problem. If you don't think about it much, it's real easy to push snow into piles that dam normal drainage courses. It may not seem like it in the north right now, but the stuff does eventually melt. Drives can be made into ponds and basements into pools. ....

Luck is with me, I do not have any drainage problems along my driveway. Good point though.
Yes, it is strange for this much snow here in southern MO. We got 14" of snow. But the little 4100 did just fine. In fact I was surprised that it chugged right through all that snow with turf tires.

Well, I had to respond to this post! We just got our first real snow up here in New Hampshire, and I had ample oppurtunity to play with my 4100Hydro and snowblower. And of course, I had more fun that the law allows - which is one of the reasons I got this thing to begin with. I have a 4100hydro, with a quick-tach hitch and 47" snowblower. Fortunately I got the hydraulic chute rotation, and the remote spout cap control - I'd highly recommend those two options to anyone who's planning on using the snowblower.

My wife refers to me and my toys, and I suspect she's not far off. Of course, I try to maintain a fitting seriousness, and even dignity, and also not to uncharitably observe that she benefits from the results of my toys.
Live PTO, which I think is almost standard these days, is another good thing to have. The chute tends to clog if the blower stops turning before the auger clears.
