I was attaching my JD 45 blade to the 4600 yesterday and the lack of the telescoping three point hitch draft arms brought back those haunting feelings of the need for a NewHolland Boomer. It has been more than two years since the 4000 tractors went into production and still no improvement on the three point hitch. NewHolland has had the superior three point hitch from the Boomer's start (over 4 years?). The Augusta Works team has a category 2 telescoping hitch for their 5000 series tractor. How difficult would it be to adapt the technology to a category 1 hitch?

As for technology, that cannot be the issue. This is not very technical, and even if it was - JD already has it. My 42 year old JD 530 has telescoping lower links. Perhaps it is the price. I'm thinking it would add around fifty dollars to the price of the tractor. But maybe it is all to the good.... Here is another one of those after-market opportunities for someone with a home metal working shop. ....

Roger with your expertise I think you will agree that the manufacturers can probably do it for about $100. I don't think in the big aftermarket world you could get $300.00 for a set if you could make and sell them for that do you? ....

Roger, I would pay extra for the telescoping links. This feature is optional on the 5000 series tractors. I think it is between $150 and $200. In any event, if Deere needs more money to prop up their stock price I will pay it. $200 for the telescoping links is cheaper than a back operation. ....

I don't know what people would be willing to pay for aftermarket telescoping links....but manufacturing half a dozen different upgrades for compacts would be a nifty small business. Don't think it would make a living, but think of all the fun! ....
