I am looking at a 790 with a loader and 60" belly mower. The best price so far is $17,351. I live in Iowa. Any thoughts on the price. Will this type of set up do a good job of mowing my lawn, or is it too big?

Been awhile, about two years ago that I was considering the 790 and if memory serves me well the tractor ran about 11 to 12 K + 3.5 K for the loader or 15.5K total and I would think 2K for a mower is a bit high....but not sure and I am sure others will post who have a similar setup. Also, you said you want to use this to mow the lawn......I assume you plan to do more than that, ie the loader, and hope it is a good size lawn. Anyway, you might elaborate on uses and others will likely offer an opinion.

Thanks, the unit will be used on a large acreage for a variety of functions. I am trying to have one unit that will meet my needs. In regards to mowing I want to get rid of two garden tractors and use the 790 to do it all. It will certainly handle my rotary mower and the dirt and rock moving I have to do, I am just not sure of the quality of the mowing. ....

Today I located an 855 with 72" deck, cab,4wd with turf tires, 1998 with 451 hours. Appears to be a better fit for my mowing needs. Dealer is asking $10,500. I would need to buy a loader, dealer says I can get an Allied for about $2000. Does this sound reasonable?? Any thoughts are appreciated. ....
