Glow plug heater light

Message Body :

Hello
My glow plug light will not shut off, and I am not certain the heater is even working. I have TC48DA New Holland. I have replaced heater relay, replaced ignition switch, checked the timer switches for ohms with and without voltage to them. Cannot find the issue, I hear relay click when I turn the key, but dont hear it go off. I pulled all wires to the relay because I needed to use the tractor and the light is still on. Scratching my head here. Any help is appreciated

It sounds like you've already taken several steps to troubleshoot the issue with your New Holland TC48DA's glow plug system. Here are a few additional suggestions to help diagnose and resolve the problem:

Check the Glow Plugs Themselves: Sometimes, glow plugs can fail or become worn out, causing the glow plug indicator light to stay on. You can test the glow plugs by removing them from the engine and inspecting them for damage or wear. Additionally, you can test their resistance with a multimeter to ensure they are within the manufacturer's specifications.

Inspect the Glow Plug Controller: The glow plug controller (also known as the glow plug relay or module) is responsible for controlling the operation of the glow plugs. Even though you've replaced the heater relay, there could still be an issue with the controller itself. Check the wiring and connections to the controller and ensure that it is receiving power and signals from the ignition switch correctly.

Test the Glow Plug Circuit: Use a multimeter to test the continuity and voltage of the glow plug circuit. Start by checking the voltage at the glow plug relay when the ignition is turned on. If voltage is present, the relay should activate and send power to the glow plugs. If voltage is not present, there may be an issue with the wiring, ignition switch, or other components in the circuit.

Inspect the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor: The glow plug system is often controlled by inputs from sensors such as the engine coolant temperature sensor. If this sensor is faulty or sending incorrect signals to the controller, it could cause the glow plug indicator light to stay on. Test the sensor's resistance and voltage output to ensure it is functioning correctly.

Check for Faulty Grounds: Poor or corroded ground connections can cause electrical issues, including problems with the glow plug system. Inspect the ground connections for the glow plug circuit and ensure they are clean, tight, and free from corrosion.

Consult the Service Manual: If you haven't already, refer to the service manual for your New Holland TC48DA tractor. The manual should contain detailed troubleshooting steps, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic procedures specific to the glow plug system.

If you've exhausted these troubleshooting steps and are still unable to resolve the issue, it may be best to consult with a qualified technician or mechanic who has experience with New Holland tractors. They can perform a more thorough diagnosis using specialized tools and equipment to pinpoint the exact cause of the glow plug problem. ....
