JOHN DEERE GATOR will not start after overheating

can anyone help me figure out why my diesel gator will not start after my kid overheated it. the gator just shut down. now i try to turn it over but it will not fire. i am getting smoke from the exhaust while turning it. i even tried to use some starting fluid and it still will not fire up.
