Being pretty new to this compact tractor stuff....I was looking at the brochures for both tractors the other day...comparing the two......the 790 is of course bigger in every way...frame size. wheel size..right down to horsepower......so my question is??why do they give a higher rating ; lifting between the arms at 24" above ground...to the 4100 series..??? I would have thought the 790 would outlift it by double??? I guess I am missing something here...can anyone explain..Glen

On a previous thread we ended up thinking that the reason for 3pt lift capacity ratings were probably related more to the front end weight and possibly how much you can lift with a stock tractor before the steering becomes (too) light. As far as HP, frame strength, material strength, and things like that are involved....from those aspects all tractors are capable of handling far more than the rating on the 3pt.
Another thing that came up was that every tractor had plenty of 3pt power. Nobody reported that their tractor was short of lift capability. ....
