Many Ford truck owners with Powerstroke diesels, along with Dodge Cummins owners rely on Shell Rotella T 15W-40 motor oil. My owners manual only lists SAE 10W-30 or 10W-40, meeting Classif. CC or CD, which the Rotella meets. Any advice on using the Rotella T 15W-40 in my L3710?

Awhile back I read in a trucker mag. where they tested various diesel oils. On the wear test Rotella came in like second to the last--which surprised me. Amsoil came in on top. The top three were synthetics. And NO!- I DO NOT sell Amsoil. ....

I just finished the 50 hour break-in service on my L3600 and used Shell Rotella T 15w40. It was recommended by my dealer and will work well in my climate range (NW Washington). I researched other oils (dino/synthetics) but I prefer to change oil and filter every 50 hours and synthetics would be a waste. Of note, I have several friends who are independent truckers and they gave Rotella T excellent recommendations based on their years of experience. Enjoy. ....
