hello,
i have a 1070 with the yanmar. when i turn the key on, sometimes it clicks and the indicator lights come on - and sometimes it does not click. if it does click, and the lights come on, when i try to crank it, nothing happens and the lights go off. battery is strong. ground is strong.

if anyone has any ideas, i would appreciate it.

thanks!

There are several potential problems. A couple of questions need to be answered. Does the engine turn over by hand by that I mean can you manualy turn the crank?, how many hrs on the unit?, Is this a new problem or progressive problem, what is a strong battery? how many volts DC are registered, Will it start with cables or jump pak? Some possible problems could be bad gound, dead spot on starter, faulty key switch, problem with neutal saftey switch, sized starter, bad solonoid, corrosion in wiring. If you can give some more symtoms and oberervations I'll try to get you through it as beast as I can with out seeing it. ....

thanks alot.

just used jumper cables to jump from the battery to the starter, and from the battery to a ground. it took a few tries, but it turned over (hesitating) and then started.

so i'm going to replace the ground cable and the hot cable and see if that cures it.

before this, it was not turning over at all. it would click, and the the indicator lights on the dash would go off.... no power at all.

thanks alot. appreciate your time! ....

It sounds like the same problem that I am having with my 1070. Did you get it resolved? What was wrong? Thanks! ....
