Hello, I have a JD 4400 HST/R4's with the 3rd DSCV mounted in the right fender. I've noticed that it does not "return" to the neutral position after it's use. Is there anyone else out there with this configuration, and have they noticed the same thing? Secondly, I've also noticed that the "cruise" for the HST does not hold, but drifts down (slower). Does anyone else notice this?Thank you

My 4300 did the same thing. There is a locknut that controls the tension inside the fender. You have to remove the plastic housing and loosen the locknut. I also sprayed some lubricant at the pivot point. It took care of the problem. I didn't have the cruise control problem you mentioned. Just another example of the attention to detail and quality control at John Deere August Works. ....

I have a JD 4300 HST 4-WD, R4 tires, 430 loader, 4 in 1 bucket and 47 backhoe. I have the same problem with my 3rd DSCV sticking. I always have had to manually return it to the neutral position. I am going to take Terry's advice to fix the problem. ....

I have had my JD 4300 since March. I am doing my 50 hour maintenance this weekend and to date have had no problems, knock on wood. I know if I keep saying this I am going to jinx myself but it has absolutely performed as well as I could ask. I am sure some of you guys work your tractors harder than I do but for what I want to do it has done it well. I guess this is why my friends call me Lucky Eddie, or maybe it's not the reason. Only change I might make is to get turf tires. I just don't like driving it on my lawn and have know intentions of driving it in the mud. I am in the process of putting third SCV on so I appreciate the information on the sticking. Good luck with your tractors. ....

Dennis: If you do a search on the CTB for "cruise problems" it will take you to a post where I described a similar problem. Hope it will be some help. ....
