Does anyone have any comments on Kelley backhoes. Models B600 or B750. They mount via 3 point, and subframes are available. Thanks for any info. Paul.

i have looked at the kelly backhoes, they seem to be light duty units, not near as heavy as the manufacturer units i saw , the price is not as much either so i guess it depends on your needs, i would not buy one if i was to use it every day, bur for occasional use it woould be ok.

Kelley makes good backhoes. For commercial use one should get the B851. When comparing hoes compare the thickness of steel & check for extra reinforcing in the frame of the hoe. Some hoes look like they have more steel , but it isn't as thick. Kelley has extra reinforcing in the frame. It isn't as noticeable that way, but it is stronger. Also check cylinder & cylinder shaft size. Kelley uses bigger sizes than some of the tractor manufactures use. As a rough guide, compare the ship weights of the hoes you are looking at. Most people that buy backhoes for compact tractors are not using them every day, so a commercial unit is not neccesary . I handle a couple brands of backhoe & I'm impressed with the Kelley. I'm offering a 20% discount on their products. For details , ceel free to contact me at sheaftractor@coiinc.com or 815-284-3226. ....

I've been using a 3ph B600 for about a year. I like it and there've been no problems. Of course, I don't use it every day. The soil is very sandy here, and I haven't needed to move rocks or dig up trees. The unit works well for me, and I'm not sure I'd want to put anything more heavy duty on my 3ph (1875 lbs. capacity). The hoe could be stronger than the hitch.

The 6' @ 2' bottom reach of the B600 does mean that I have to move the tractor a lot if I'm trenching at 4' or more. However, taller models would be more stressful on the tractor. I figure I'm doing good if I'm getting 90% of what I need doing from the tractor and it's implements. I'll hire out the rest and not push the duty thing, or myself either.
