A dealer has a JD 750, 4WD, 820 hours, with loader for $6800. It was a trade from a landscape contractor. The paint's faded and there are a couple dings, but the dealer believes it's mechanically fine. The previous owner did say there's been a small hydro leak at the power steering for a while, but it's not really a problem. What do you all think of the price? Also, I don't see many posts for the 750- did they not sell many of them? Was there some problem with them that made them unpopular? Thanks, I really appreciate the advice of this board.

I bought a JD750 4wd for 10k with 67 loader and 240 hrs 2 years back. I haven't regretted it although I just upgraded to a 1070 and will sell the 750 soon. It just doesn't have enough lift cap for what I needed to do. Still, it was my first compact and a very well engineered tractor it is. The power steering option is worth $1000. all by itself. It sounds like a fair deal to me. Besides the size problem for me the non-power steering on my machine was a chore. If your using it on hilly country you have to be careful as the tire width is fairly narrow. Other than that, the sheet metal and paint are better than on my newer machine. Finally, pickup a technical manual if one doesn't come with it. If you are inclined, you can fix almost anything that could go wrong. I almost forgot, historically, the rear brakes tend to seize up if sat in a damp place for a couple of months. Every couple of yrs you may have to take off the drum plate and loosen things up a bit. Not a big job. The return spring gets corroded and the brakes have a hard time releasing. The 750 is a bullet proof tractor and I've been very pleased with mine, given the size and HP constraints. ....
