Hello everyone, I am new to the board. I have been reading most of the yanmar posts and trying to learn what I can. I am a first time tractor buyer and am looking at a YM1601D with a front end loader and 4' grader box. The tractor lists for $4950 alone. Is this a decent price? Does anyone have info on this particular tractor, good or bad? I could use all the advice from experienced tractor users that I can get. Was told that I could probably get the package for $7950. This is just in my price range but want to make sure that I am getting a fair deal. I live in the Tidewater, Virginia area and have found only one dealer in the state. Any help would be appreciated. ThanksJmeReid

Since you are in Tidewater Virginia, I assume you have talked to Beverage Tractor, they handle Yanmars. They are located just east of Charlottesville and west of Charlottesville in Stuart Draft. I have visited them looking at their tractors but I have not yet purchased. Looking at JD 790, it is made by Yanmar.

Yes Halsey, I have talked with Beverage Tractor. I have been told that their prices are a little high. I would like to get the best deal possible. Money is a hard thing to come by so I tend to look around some. If I have to I will buy from them. Need to consider the families needs as well though. Thanks for your post.

James, I note you are in and looking around VA for a tractor. I am in NC and wound up going to Alabama for a tractor. If you don't mind the drive, you will save a bit. Beverage and OK tractor seem a bit high. I bought a Hinomoto E2304 with loader for about 8K. Ok lists this tractor for 6.2K without the loader. Affordable tractor is down in SC and they are a Yanmar authorized dealer. Visit the Yanmar and Grey Market clubs on Yahoo. There is a wealth of info there for these type tractors. Jerri ....

There are two good Yanmar clubs over on Yahoo that you ought to take a look at. There you can step through about 8000 messages....many of them are from guys doing exactly what you are doing. Its hard to say that the price is high without seeing the tractor. It might be in real nice shape, no rust, brakes refurbished, and the tires changed out from the "rice paddy paddle tires" that tend to come on these tractors.
You can get a decent 4 foot box blade for about $300, so that leaves $2700 for the loader...which is just about exactly the retail price of a loader for this tractor with the shipping included. ....

I have just bought a 1720D from the South Carolina dealer below. He has about 30 Yanmar's and they roughly range from $4,500 for a 1601/1610 to $5,500 for the 2310D size. Mine was $5,000. He is in Hartsville,SC about 30 minutes from I20 and I95, so much of your drive would be on I95. His phone is 843-383-0767
Hope this is of some help. I believe this dealer is honest, or I wouldn't be spending my money with him. He also is a dealer for new JD small lawn/garden tractors. ....
