Just mounted the JD model 47 backhoe (new last April, has about 20 hours on it) for the spring season after it was stored for the winter and I seem to have lost all power in lowering boom or extending the dipperstick. All other functions seem fine including retracting the dipperstick and raising the boom. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem or know what the cause would be? I'd like to remedy it as soon as possible. Thanks in advance.Jim

Jim this is probably a foolish question and I don't want to insult your intelligence. Are you sure that all of your hydraulic hoses are connected correctly? The reason I ask is because last fall I hooked the loader to my 4100 and the bucket lost almost all of it's power when I tried to move it. After checking I found that I had not plugged one of the hydraulic lines in all of the way. It looked right but had not clicked into position. I hope it is something this simple for you. Good luck! ....

Larry,
Thanks for the suggestion. I checked all the fittings and both the return hose (female quick-disconnect of the backhoe) and pressure hose (backhoe male quick- disconnect) are fully engaged but I still lack power extending the dipperstick and lowering the boom. All the other functions are as quick, strong, and smooth as ever which makes this really puzzeling. I've checked the hydraulic fluid level and it looks fine. Any help is grealy appreciated and as my wife says its impossible to insult my intelligence.
Jim

Larry,
Good news, I've found and corrected the problem. The control rod length for both the boom and dipstick needed to be adjusted about four turns in. This allowed the control valves to fully open and close. Once adjusted... full power. Thanks again.

Jim I ordered a 47 backhoe for my 4400 this week. Are there any tips you or anyone else could share on mounting, unmounting & use that could be shared? I have never used a backhoe. Thanks Chris. ....
