Appreciate any help here. New to compacts, currently have a JD455, so a lot of basic questions.Looking at the BX2200, B7500 and B2410/2710; all with loaders.What I need to do:- Mow 7A regularly; belly mower.What I want to do:- Grade/plow drive/road with back blade (1/2 mile)- Dig materials on-site; hard sand and top soil/muck- Move materials- Level old farm land for an ice rink- Spread top soil over existing poor lawn- Possible future backhoe- Prep sit for a garage/polebarnQuestions:- Does any above model have an advantage wrt loader having sufficient power and digging depth to break solid ground??- Does the 3 pt. have sufficient down force to really re-shape a gravel road bed??- Any of the above have mulch kits available??- Are rear weights required when using the loader on any/all of the above??- See the 7400 has 2 rear PTO speeds (540 and 960rpm), What's the 960 for??Apologies for all the questions, but local dealers aren't terribly helpful or knowledgable, literature is out of date, and the Kubota website is poor.Thanks for your time here!!

You sure did leave your dealers empty handed or are you just checking him out. It sounds like you will need a larger B series tractor, of coarse the B-2410 would do but the B-2710 would be a great tractor for you. It will take a 72" mower deck and should have the weight that you need to dig well with the loader. The one thing that you asked about, down presure on the hitch I'm sorry but gravity is the best thats available on three point hitch today but there are some machines out there that would cut a drive and grade it to perfection and they have small ones for compact tractors to. ....

I agree with Art, the B2710 (or the new B2910) is what I would recommend (I have a B2710). Since 3-point hitches do not have "down force" you need to use a heavy enough blade, or add weight to it, or use the scarifiers to break up the ground, then smooth it. I don't know about "mulching" kits, as such, but I prefer a rear discharge, 3-point finish mower to the belly mower (besides the fact that they cost less) and my Brush Hog brand seems to do the mulching, i.e., it doesn't blow it out the back, but cuts and leaves it evenly spread. As far as the 7400 having a 2-speed PTO, there are a few implements designed for the higher RPMs on the PTO, but I've never used them. I used to have a B7100 with the 2-speed PTO but never once tried the higher speed. I think the BX series is a fine little machine and you probably CAN go the work you want to do, but it'll sure be a lot slower. ....
