I recently purchased a JD 1070 w/440 FEL. I'd like to be able to put a snowblower up front and I've contacted the local dealer and Deere directly. No-one seems to have any answers for me. Has anyone ever done this and what model blowers will work. I assume the mid PTO is where the unit will be powered from and I can't even seem to get any info on which parts I need to add that to my machine.

I use a 6' rear blower and the front loader for snow removal. I live in the western NY snow belt you see on national TV all the time in winter. This set up works real well. I had it on my 1050 now on my 4310.
I have a catalog from 1990 that shows front blowers available for smaller models, but not the 1070. I don't know why? ....

hey, look into the ERSKINE brand snow blowers.
I have a front mount fm60 for my 790, it runs off of the REAR PTO through a drive shaft sub frame and I use my fel hydraulics up/down,L/r and will be getting the 12 volt actcuator for the chute
They make them from 54 inches up to 9 ft wide !!!!!!
alot heavier than ANYTHING JD is going to offer!!!
twice the price of a rear mount but the strain on your neck is gone and safer too.
i can drop my 419 fel and have the blower on in 15 minutes
I use this with a 72 inch box scraper to break up the ice and push a pile or two in a tight spot

Hmmm, yeah, JD makes one for the 790, but not the 1070. With the blower on the back and the loader on the front I can do a nice neat job on my concrete driveway. I hace an old model 666 JD blower. I need to use the brakes to help steer my 4310 unless I also have a heavy load in the bucket. ....

I bought a ERSKINE for my 790 because it TWICE as built as the jd !!!!
I use automotive tire chains for the front wheels and cut down a set of skidder chains for the r4's in the back.
with the weight of the blower in the front/scraper and loaded tires with chains I DO NOT HAVE TO WORRY about steering or traction its 1/2 pint short of a bulldozer ....

Thanks for the great info, I just thought it would be a list of Deere Model numbers and I'd just order the stuff. Guess it doesn't always work out like you plan. ....

I'm sorry,ERSKINE front mount blowers use a subframe that is adjustable for a given width or you go up one size and adjust it down, cutting the 1 1/8 inch keyed shaft
The shaft is the only cutting you do and the frame either slides together or extends to reach your tow bar not your 3 pt hitch.
I had mine out of the crate and together in 2 hrs.
less the hoses that were measured and made.
