My B2710 has unhealthy howl in the hydrostatic trans once I work it for a spell and it has got up to operating temps.
Does not appear in low or medium gears, only high. Replaced trans/hydraulic fluid and filter, no difference.
300 hours on unit. Any ideas?

Do you use super UDT? How much work are you doing in high range? Normally work should be in medium range and hard work in low. High range is for road or longer distance travel with little load. ....

I have the B7800 which has the same drive-train as your tractor. I have a definite "howl" if I try any heavy work in high range. This is the third Hydrostat I've had, and they all howl if you try to work them too hard in high range. There is a howl in mid-range, but not nearly as loud. All of the hydros I've had "howled". It's a nature of the beast thing.
As Art mentioned, don't do any hard work in high range. It is meant to be used only to travel from one point to another without load. I always use Super UDT. ....
