I have a JD 755 and need to replace several (zerk) grease fittings. Am I correct that they are metric? 7MM hex seems to fit best, what thread, or size do I buy?
Thanks

I usually end up taking them to the dealer to match up. I have full (well anything smaller than 1/8 pipe) US and me thinks I have most metric. Of course now they are usually a cheezy driven zerk which you will either fight with (I haven't won that battle yet) or retap for a threaded one.

Good Luck Harvey ....

I would take one or at least your make year and model to the dealer for the right fittings, also remember where they came from. I had to do the same because they have so many kinds, american and metric. You can find your machine and parts pictorial break down on the John Deere site and get the numbers for the part at the exact location it came from. ....

I would say they are metric, and I bought both sets to replace ones on my equipment. It seems my metric set does not match the threads on all my metric stuff? Being a JD in your instance, I would be suprised if the dealer could even tell you the size. It seems ordinary parts sizes are top secret at JD, my dealer culd not tell me the size of O rings for my 4300, just a part number. They want you to buy parts there. ....

denwood, it seems the JD dealers are just people that sold cars or furniture last week. At least in this area. If the computer can't tell them, they don't know. I asked my dealer for grease fittings for a 110 and he had to look them up and then found that he better order them because he didn't dare cross match. I would say that their computers don't give them a size either, just a number. JD has almost gone the way of Harley Davidson, we'll sell ya the stuff at an inflated price but don't ask me anything about the machine your buying. ....

Hettric, Used to have a 755, and changed most of the grease fittings on it so that I could grease it easier. Obviously it is cheaper for the factory to install short straight nipples instead of the 90 or 45 angled fittings. I just had an Alemite assortment and changed them. I believe they were a standard 1/28 taper thread and worked fine for me.
