My New Holland Workmaster 37 Dash displays error AB04. The engine starts fine, runs fine for about 30 seconds, then turns itself off. I removed the pedal sensor and applied 5VDC from a bench supply. It powered up, but produced no analog output.
A new pedal sensor did not fix the shutoff problem. AB04 is still displayed.
Can code AB04 indicate problems in addition to the pedal sensor?
Do all fault codes clear by leaving the battery disconnected for over 20 minutes, or is the diagnostic software required?
Unless someone has a miracle cure suggestion, I am thinking my next step is to rent the factory diagnostic software, get an interface, and see what it says. Good idea?????
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your help,
Mike

According to the New Holland Boomer 47 Operator’s Manual (which shares engine fault codes with the Workmaster series), AB04 corresponds to:
Foot throttle pedal position sensor:
Possible issues: main speed sensor, sub speed sensor, connector or wiring harness fault, or the pedal position sensor (0.2 to 4.25 V analog signal)
So, AB04 indicates a foot throttle (pedal) sensor issue, and it could stem not just from the sensor itself, but also connector or wiring problems.
There is no clear evidence that AB04 can be reliably cleared by disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes. Manufacturer practice typically prefers using diagnostic software to clear stored fault codes. I would not rely solely on a battery disconnect to reset or diagnose the error properly.

how to connect Service Tool

I am unable to locate information in either the owner or service manuals detailing how to connect the Service Tool to a Workmaster 37 compact tractor. I've looked for a round multi-pin connector that would mate with the round green and blue one shown in the URL below. No go.
How do I connect a laptop running the diagnostic software to this tractor?
Will an interface such as that shown at the URL work with this machine?
And if so, how is it connected to the tractor?
If the interface shown won't work, can someone recommend a 3rd party unit that will work, that doesn't cost $$$$$$$$$
Thanks!!
Mike
