what is a good chain to use on my 2810 ford with R1's, no pavement, well packed gravel drive and a short stretch up to the barn on frozen ground and moderate incline. These will be winter use only. Thanks

There are opinions about how much chains on R1's help on ice. They do have an advantage in deep snow. I have turf's, which are probably better on ice without chains so I've never used them.
From what I've heard ring type chains work on R1's because the links won't fall in between the lugs but they also give very rough rides. ....

I have 'Duogrip' v-bar chains on my 12.4X24 R1's
The problem is they still fall mostly between the 1-1/8 high lugs. Traction is Greatly improved, even on ice. If I had to buy over, I would get a 'ring type' as Tom suggested, or a set with the heaviest cross chains I could find. I may still add some 'extra' cross chains to mine.
On the 7.2X16 R-1 fronts, I use a light truck chain with heavy 3/8" cross chains. Same problem, but really, I have been in the woods through 16+" snow, and over fields with 3" of wind-polished ice with no real problems. Take it slow, use the ROPS and seat belt if available.
Hope this helps.. bliz ....
