I am in the market for a broadcast spreader for my BX1500. Everybody sells the "regular" size inverted conical type, but I am interested in a smaller version. So far, the only one I've found is a King Kutter XB sold through Tractor Supply Company. Are there any other choices out there for a 250# PTO driven unit?

Be sure yuor hitch is a cat 0-1 and you should be fine. Most ag dealers have them available for under 300. You should also look for one with two doors if possible as the spread pattern will be a bit more consistant then with the one. ....

Thanks for the good advice, Art. (as usual!) Do you know of any specific manufacturers that make smallish spreaders. Mind you, I'm not asking for any endorsements, just other options to check out. The TSC XB spreader is a bit pricey and has a long lead time. I'd like to pick one up before it is too late for fall fertilizing. ....

All right you put me to the test and I've failed on all but one! The 0-1 hitch I didn't find on any of the makes we sell that I'm aware of! The other part is they start off about 100 dollars more but there are 300lb capacity cat 1 hitch units available. They will fit on your tractor just the hitch arms will have to be wide and you might have limited lift. The two doors assures you of the product flowing better to the spinner. ....

Check with 'Wildman1'; seems to me he has a Work Saver (?) PTO spreader on his JD 2210. I almost got one last year, but the weather changed and I was on to the next tool... ....

Worksaver/Farmstar has the cat0-1 pto spreaders that should fit your BX. There was just a thread last week with the same question. They have spreaders that start at 1.5 bushels and go up from there. I looked at one at TSC this spring, didn't purchase. The 1.5 bushel spreader is 12v driven. You can check the Farmstar site for additional information and make sure compatibility with your hitch. TSC does carry these spreaders, the 1.5 bushel is TSC item no. 21-18168, the three bushel, which is pto driven is TSC item no. 21-18003. Hope this helps. ....

Check out the Earthway spreader M21P. I have one mounted on my gator and it works fine. Holds about 200 lbs and works off the 12 volt battery. A couple of different brackets work for most applications. Your Kubota should handle it just fine.
