I'm looking to purchase a 25-30 hp tractor with a front end loader, 5' box scraper, and 5' rotary mower/brush hog. I have been comparing the JD4000 series, NH Boomers, and the Kubota B2710. Now I hear Kubota has a 2910. Does anyone have any realtime experience with the 2910?? I've never owned a tractor before. I have 6 acres to maintain. Four in trees that need initial clearing then routine maintenance, and 2 in grass/weeds/green stuff. I also have some dirt I want to rearrange. SO...I 'm looking for advice. Thanx in advance for any input.

Andrew, I've got a B2710 and love it. I haven't seen a B2910 yet, but have read that it's supposed to have a "better" cruise control, and tilt and telescope steering wheel. If I'd waited until the 2910 came out, I might have preferred it, but probably would not pay much more for it. I have 10 acres, have a brother nearby with 10 acres, and I sometimes do some tractor work for other people, and I do all the things you've said you're going to do, plus a lot more, and the 2710 handles the job just fine. ....

THE 2910 IS THE SAME BASIC TRACTOR AS 2710 BUT WITH MORE
HORSEPOWER. THEY ALSO ADDED A HAND CONTROL FOR THE HYDROSTAT.

Bird Senter........thanx a heap!.....sheesh...I just convinced myself that the 2710 was a great tractor but too small for my needs (well actually it was my wife that did the convincing - she likes BIG tractors)...and now you come along and tell me how great your 2710 does all the chores I need doing......
tell me....do you ever look back and wish you'd have bought bigger??....I mean all I hear in the tractor world is "decide on what you need then go out and buy the next bigger size...."
truth of the matter is......I had less trouble deciding on a wife!*laughing* ....

Hey Andy, go with what the wife says if she wants to go for a bigger tractor. I said my B2710 does everything I need, but I've also told lots of folks that I believe in buying the biggest thing you can afford and have room to maneuver, because I've known lots of folks who traded up to a bigger tractor and can't think of anyone who has wanted to trade down to a smaller one. In fact, I had a B7100HSD for 4 years before trading up to the B2710. And if my wife ever wins the lottery, I'm going to buy an M120. What do think my chances are? ....

Andy one thing I often see is people buying a tractor that is to big, this makes the tractor non-useable at different times and reduces manuverablity of the tractor. On the other side I see people buying too small and of coarse than you can't do what you would like to. The B-27-2910 tractor is a tractor that fits many uses and places and has a excellent track record if you haven't seen one you should. ....

Art...the size issue has created quite a quandry for me. The local Kubota dealer has offered to let me try out a 3010 on my property for a few hours and I plan on taking him up on his offer before I buy. As far as the 2910 is concerned...no one seems to have one available yet. I've seen and driven the 2710s and I'm impressed, but it lacks some of the creature comforts I would prefer to have. ....

Andy it's to bad that you aren't in central N.Y. I just got three in yesterday one is sold the other two are currently open but will probably be sold by next week. If you are tall the 3010 does give you a little extra leg room. Look at your land and do an evaluation of size. Where you want to go, what you want to do,are there places that the smaller size might go easier? ....

Andrew,
I have a 2910 and 3010, If I could only have one it would be the 3010.
The 3010 is a lot smoother, much more power, maybe partly because of
the weight. The 3010 could drag the 2910 kicking and screeming all the
way back to the barn, backwards. As you might can tell I like the 3010
the best.
I would think the 4 cyl. 2910 would be smoother than the 3 cyl. 3010,it's
not by a long shot. The 2910 above 2000 RPMs will put my feet to sleep after
a couple of hours of mowing.
The hand cruise control on the 2910 gets in the way more than it does good.
The only thing going for the 2910 is it's size, and it's just handy. I always keep the loader on the 3010, and if I didn't need a loader I wouldn't need the
2910.
Did I mention I like the 3010 the best.
Gerald ....
