JD 4600 and equipment price check

Am getting closer to making my purchase decision. Started looking for a cheap "grey" and have gone up through the ranks and am now close to a decision on a JD 4600. I was torn between Kubota and JD but my wife likes the greens (lived in Iowa for 5 years). The JD dealer seems pretty good and is the closest one to me. The only other dealer is sells Longs and Landtrac's and I haven't been able to trust him.Prices quoted:4600 with PowrReverser,R4's loaded with antifreeze = $18,600460 Loader = $3,400 add the fork blades = $79074" Tiller = $1795 (not JD, Bush Hog brand I think)2 Bottom Plow = $475 unknown brandRear Scrape Blade = $700 (not JD Bush Hog brand I think)5' Bush Hog Brand Rotary Cutter = $890Canopy = $375 (my wife likes this)Total (with tax) $27,290.25He showed us a 4 in one Bucket but didn't push it. Said the added cost was also in the extra hydraulics needed to operate it.Didn't recomend hst in this size tractor but stated it was his bias.Also said he does recomend them in smaller models used mostly for mowing.Indicated saving only a couple of bucks on the 4500 didn't make it worth it.Since this is my first tractor (after a "lawn and garden" fiasco) purchase I am a bit nervous about making the right decision. Peoples who opinion I trust ( 2 Uncles with a lot more farming experience) kept telling me to get a bigger tractor. So I now think I'm at the right size.I would appreciate any opinions about this set-up and my dealers advice.ThanksDavid

hi im presently looking at the 4500 tractor with just the loader , i was quoted 20800 +tax, i would like to get the 4600 4x4 powerreverser with loader for 20k, im going to make offer at the end of the month for a cash sale and see if he takes it. he told me the same thing that the 4 in1 buket was not that effective said thatthe bucket was to small but that jd,he thought, was going to make a 72" bucket. asheville,nc ....

Thanks for your response on the compact tractor board. I never got aquote on the 4500 but did see some retail prices quoted: 4500 12/12Power Rev. $21,035, 4600 12/12 Power Rev. $22,835, Loaders (incl.ballast box, bucket level indicator, grill guard) 460 $4,114.Looks like about $1800 retail difference from the 4500 and 4600.I'm in Spruce Pine and got my quote from JD dealer in Jonas Ridge.(Close to Linville Falls) Wasn't too impressed with the guy I talked to@ Blue Ridge. Where did you get your quote?David ....
