Need information, recommendations and opinions on purchasing a grey-market yanmar from a remote distributor. There appears to be no dealers in ther Northeast U.S. I need to find a reputable dealer with good prices. Tractor is needed for field work, light timber work, snowplowing and dirt work on 30 acres. Thanks!

The problem with buying any used piece of equipment remotely is the condition can vary greatly. If the dealer isn't trustworthy, or perhaps he has a different opinion of what is "nice", you could be in a bind. Also consider after the sale service. Will he chase parts for you? Does it come with a manual, a warranty? Does the dealer do his own reconditioning? Be very careful of the "factory" recondition units being advertised. Rest assured that Yanmar isn't reconditioning these and selling them to the US market. Many are being "reconditioned" in Vietnam. It would not be fair to make a blanket condemnation of all vietnamese rebuilds, but I have heard of a great deal of problems with them, so be careful.
Having said that, I admit that I sell a fair amount of tractors remotely, and I always make double sure that they are very nice, as my reputation rides along with every tractor I sell. I am on the west coast, so I am not trying to sell you a tractor, just giving you some thoughts.
Yanmars are top quality machines, if you get a good used tractor it will last a lifetime.
I believe Little Miami Tractor Company (LMTC) (Ohio) has a good inventory right now, and he is a reputable guy and good with parts. You might look him up on the web, his name is Wayne. Many other guys in that general area as well. ....
