Gator electrical problem

I have a 6x4 diesel and recently I noticed that my headlights and tipping bed stopped working. The engine started and run fine but, I was unable to check the engine as I cant lift the bed. The battery ran down afterwards so I do believe that there is something wrong with the alternator. Does anyone know how to lift the bed without the electric lift?

reach above the battery from the back of the gator and remove the pin that holds the lift acuator to the frame. No tools neded. Then manually lift bed from the front. ....
