Is anyone aware of or has experience of installing a power steering kit on the John Deere Gator please? Bought a new one this year and the dealer is maintaining there isn't such a beast available - however, I'm sure one of the John Deere reps at a recent show/event said there was a kit available.
Any suggestions welcome. Thanks

There is a kit for the HPX and XUV that shows up on ebay from time to time. I never looked into it so I don't know the company that makes it, I believe it is over 700.00 ....

The parts guy or a salesman, not sure which, at a Deere dealership did tell me this spring that a PS kit is available for those models. The 700.00 seems right and I think he said it is an elecrtric unit.

I'm wondering if a system from an ATV (Yamaha?) would work. Can't be all that complicated---(guessing) an electric linear actuator (LA)---think an elctric hydraulic cylinder---, some potentiometers (possibly already built into the actuator) and some limit switches. I bought four LAs off ebay for $15 which came off some robotics. I used one on a power wheelbarrow I built from a garden tractor to atucate a tensioner pulley as a clutch, and gave one to a neighbor to control the chute on his snow blower. Pretty sure they have 120lb of force---which for something only the size of a hot dog bun ain't too bad. They're sold by Baileynet.com for about $150 EACH. ....
