I have a AMT 600 and the clutch brake apparently is out of adjustment. On some shifts to reverse and back to forward, the gears are grinding; other times they shift properly. Is there some adjustment that I can make to take care of this infrequent problem. I will ultimately damage the tranny is this is not corrected?

There is no "clutch brake" the clutch turns all the time. Grinding is probably caused by too high an idle rpm, idle has to be under 1100 rpm or transaxle could grind when shifting. If it happens alot, you could ruin the shift collar and/or the forward gear. ....

The idle RPM is not high. It appears from the sound to be normal. Should I lower it even more. What about the intermitent grinding when shifting. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.
The foot pedal lever on the right side at the foot rest is linked to the out put shaft from the transmission. What is the purpose of this control?
Thanks for your reaponse.

If your idle isn't too high, grinding could be caused by slop in the linkage or worn parts inside the transaxle. The foot pedal, when depressed, locks the axle to give 4 wheel drive. ....

there definitely appears to be wear in the linkage. I will look at this and tighten up as needed. Because of the intermident engagement and the difficulty in the selection lever (forward, neutral, and reverse), I hope that I can take care without major repairs.
Thanks
